National Coming Out Ritual and Celebration

Our Vision:

In celebration of National Coming Out Day, we will have a day dedicated to sharing our stories and being supported in owning our sexual and gender identities. We will participate in a traditional sweat lodge ceremony to envision our futures, offering prayers for ourselves, loved ones, and allies on the Coming Out journey.

Sweat Lodge Ceremony:  

Why Are Sweat Lodges Important? The sweat lodge has spiritual, cultural and practical purposes. It is a place to connect with the Creator and to nature, and restore order and balance in life.

I’ve included two links.  One has details of the location and how to prepare for the lodge.  And the second link is an essay I wrote many years ago explaining the ritual and some of its symbolism and traits.  We look forward to seeing you and if you have any questions or need to cancel, please let me know.  

Don’t forget about the potluck feast following lodge. Please bring a dish to share.

Donations are appreciated 

 A donation jar is set out for your convenience, or you can use the Venmo link provided by the donation jar.  Donations are not a requirement for participation. 

Should you need to cancel please let us know as space is limited and I tend to have a waiting a list.

Note:  For some strange reason GPS services tend to direct people to the wrong house (right neighborhood but wrong house).  Often you just need to turn around and follow the road to the next dead end (completely opposite part of our street) and you will find us.
