Monthly Sweat Lodge Ceremony:
Why Are Sweat Lodges Important? The sweat lodge has spiritual, cultural and practical purposes. It is a place to connect with the Creator and to nature, and restore order and balance in life.
Some Details:
I’m Jerry Buie and I see you have signed up for our Sweat Lodge You are welcome to come and sit by the fire, do prayer ties, etc. once the fire is started. Please be here no later than 6:30 PM, but you are welcome to come early and do prayer ties or sit by the fire which will be starting at 4 PM. Bruce and I try to be good host, but we are often tending to the last minute details when you arrive, so forgive us as we scurry about to make the lodge work.
I’ve included two links. One has details of the location and how to prepare for the lodge. And the second link is an essay I wrote many years ago explaining the ritual and some of its symbolism and traits. We look forward to seeing you and if you have any questions or need to cancel, please let me know.
This question also comes up about weather. When a lodge is “called” we ALWAYS have it, so weather does not distract from following up with the ceremony.
Don’t forget about the potluck feast following lodge.
Donations are appreciated and support our work with food and necessary supplies.

Note: For some strange reason GPS services tend to direct people to the wrong house (right neighborhood but wrong house). Often you just need to turn around and follow the road to the next dead end (completely opposite part of our street) and you will find us.
